Dream Threads

Image result for pig rodeoMaybe I will become what some family members always wanted me to be. Coming from a family of doctors is tough when all you want to do is be in the rodeo. I have always loved animals. I have two dogs, one cat, fourteen fish, a snake, and a horse. So maybe, I've come up with a compromise. I saw an injured pig at my last ride, and I knew I wanted to help him. So maybe I will become a farm veterinarian. It's not exactly what my parents want or expect from me, but this is something I can do to make us both happy. It's the best of both worlds. I have learned as I've gotten older, that my happiness is just as happy as theirs. I've decided to take in the injured pig as well. He was my inspiration for this idea anyways, so I feel like I owe it to him. Mom said we have enough animals, but I want that pig.

Pillow Talk

Waking up worried
The car is coming, please stop
I need you, don't leave

Waking up in fear is not a desirable feeling.
Wrapped up in a tangle of sheets and blankets with pillows astray.
Heart racing as your foggy eyes adjust to the brightening room.
Panic settling as you realize, it was only a dream.
Off and on for the past few years, restless nights have become part of my life. Sometimes it's worse than others, but it's always the same dream. They say nightmares are usually caused by guilt, regret, or fear. Car accident dreams point to an ongoing conflict. Dreaming you are in an accident may suggest you are punishing yourself for something you've said or done because your conscience is bothering you. It could even symbolize a mistake.
They also suggest that the people in your dreams make a difference. But what happens if the person is varying? At first, it was always the same person. But as time went on, the figure became blurry and I wasn't sure who I was dreaming about. Now it's back to the original passenger, but why did it change?
Everyone seems to know how to interpret dreams, but does anyone know how to get rid of nightmares?
I long for nights of peaceful slumber. The only memory of good sleep I have is when I don't remember my dream at all.

If I Were In Charge Of The World

If I were in charge of the world
I'd cancel rainy days,
all soccer games,
sad feelings, and also
incompetent people.

If I were in charge of the world
there'd be fall weather 24/7,
a Starbucks on every corner, and
baseball season would last all year.

If I were in charge of the world
you wouldn't have Cubs fans.
You wouldn't have bad drivers.
You wouldn't have delayed flights.
Or "Hillary for President."
You wouldn't even have Hillary running.

If I were in charge of the world
a chai tea latte would be a vegetable.
All Chick-fil-a's would be open on Sunday.
and a person who sometimes forgets to brush their hair
and sometimes forgets to think before they speak
would still be allowed to be
in charge of the world.

Color Collage Poem

Homecoming Blue

Here is an
Opulent shade of blue.
Majestic when worn.
Effective at communicating a
Code of lavish elegance.
Often worn by
Marvelous individuals.
Imperturbable representation.
Notable sophistication
Given to all attired in it.

Color Walk Poem

Blue Jump Rope Handles

every year in early November,
morning workouts start.
this means waking up at five in the morning.
throwing on shorts and a t-shirt,
with sweatpants over them,
because it's too cold to walk outside otherwise.

morning workouts means starting everyday
with a coach yelling at you.
but it's worth it.
because after months of waking up early
and pain, sweat, and occasionally blood,
the results show.

when you walk out on the field for the first time come March,
you can feel the improvements you've made.
and all those early mornings feel worth it.
all the hard work pays off.

Paint Chip Poetry

Capri
An island of calm.
Surrounded by bright blue ocean that glistens when the sun shines down.
Waves crash into the rocks that line the paradise.
When the sun falls from the sky at the end of the day, the lights of the town illuminate the roads in its place.
Boats fill the coast, adding to the life of the land.
This island is full of blues.
Covered in bright floral foliage.
Capri, an island of calm.

Oceanside Blue/Barrier Reef/Beachcomber/El Caribe
Sitting by the ocean can be quite calming. The different shades of blue rocking back and forth against the pale sand. But there is a barrier. We don't know what is in the water. As a whole, we have barely skimmed the surface of this mighty aquatic beast. Beachcombers search the sands, but we don't look below the surface. We look at the el caribe and think about the threat they pose, but I am more afraid of the predators we don't know about. So maybe the ocean isn't so calming. What is underneath the deep blues is unknown and terrifies me.

Stone White
Soft on
The eyes
Off white
Not quite grey
Easily overlooked
Worn by
Houses covered in winter snow
Icy roads adorn this shade
The color of crisp air
Embellishing the darkness of winter

Haiku's

Blue discovery
Discovering a new path
Snow mountains shine bright

Mythic green so dull
Wheat grass sways in the crisp air
Old ancestral gold

Comments

I could picture every line in my head. Very descriptive and detailed! Great job!
Quite graphic. Not what I was expecting when I read the title, but a pleasant surprise. I feel like you could turn this into a book. With a little more detail and added story line, this could be a best selling horror story.

Nice piece! I really enjoyed reading this! Glad I could get to know you a little better!

Looking forward to reading the rest and finding out who the mystery man is!!

I actually laughed out loud when I read the part about Viktor.

Bonfires are the best! I love love love hanging out with my friends in the crisp fall air, talking about anything and everything. Those are some of the best moments:)
Compelling. This created a very realistic picture in my mind. An emotional roller coaster. Great feel good story!

Family game nights are the best! Great memories you can always hold on to!

This is deep. You know how when you read a story, sometimes you just read it and don't really connect with it? Well this wasn't one of those. Great job capturing images in my mind!
