Capri
An island of calm.
Surrounded by bright blue ocean that glistens when the sun shines down.
Waves crash into the rocks that line the paradise.
When the sun falls from the sky at the end of the day, the lights of the town illuminate the roads in its place.
Boats fill the coast, adding to the life of the land.
This island is full of blues.
Covered in bright floral foliage.
Capri, an island of calm.
Oceanside Blue/Barrier Reef/Beachcomber/El Caribe
Sitting by the ocean can be quite calming. The different shades of blue rocking back and forth against the pale sand. But there is a barrier. We don't know what is in the water. As a whole, we have barely skimmed the surface of this mighty aquatic beast. Beachcombers search the sands, but we don't look below the surface. We look at the el caribe and think about the threat they pose, but I am more afraid of the predators we don't know about. So maybe the ocean isn't so calming. What is underneath the deep blues is unknown and terrifies me.
Stone White
Soft on
The eyes
Off white
Not quite grey
Easily overlooked
Worn by
Houses covered in winter snow
Icy roads adorn this shade
The color of crisp air
Embellishing the darkness of winter
Haiku's
Blue discovery
Discovering a new path
Snow mountains shine bright
Mythic green so dull
Wheat grass sways in the crisp air
Old ancestral gold
Capri- I love that you wrapped up your poem the same way you unfolded it. Awesome :)
ReplyDeleteOcean Side- I love the words you use, like "aquatic beast" :)
Stone White- Really painted a picture of winter in my mind
Haiku's- The one about mythic green for some reason made me picture old miners in the fall walking home with some gold
Yesssss: "What is underneath the deep blues is unknown and terrifies me." It may be irrational, but the lake creeps me out even more than the ocean, I think...
